Abstract: Tack coats are commonly used to enhance the durability of layered asphalt pavement structure by sealing and improving the adhesion at layers’ interface. A low or excessive application rate of a tack coat can reduce the pavement life and increase the maintenance cost. The purpose of this workshop is to present the outcomes of a project conducted at the University of Oklahoma to evaluate the effects of tack coat types, their application rates, and surface condition on the interlayer shear strength. The presentation will be followed by questions and discussions.
